The decisive moment in photography - Capturing your moments photography

When legendary street photographer and photo-reporter Henri Cartier-Bresson shared his concept of the "decisive moment", he was talking about the importance of pressing the shutter release at the right time. Mastering this technique takes time and practice, but some lomographers have succeeded in obtaining shots that would make Cartier-Bresson proud!

The decisive moment in photography - Capturing your moments photography

The term "decisive moment" can be quite intimidating at first, but fortunately, the photo-reporter and street photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson has left us with many lessons on how to meet the challenge of pressing the shutter release at the right time. Among them is this one

"Think about your picture before and after, never during. The secret is to take your time. Don't go too fast. The subject must open you up. Then, however, you have to be very fast. So if you missed your picture, you missed it."

Whether they followed the doctrine of Cartier-Bresson or not, some lomographers have tried to capture snapshots at the perfect moment that were successful :

Of course, we can't ignore the pictures of our lomographer friends who won the decisive moment contest last year

Well done, guys! I'm sure Cartier-Bresson would be proud of you.
